Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji of Zambia

On the afternoon of August 31, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji of Zambia, who accompanied President Edgar Lungu of Zambia to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Wang Yi expressed that China and Zambia are good friends, good partners and good brothers who stand together through thick and thin and share weal and woe. The two sides always adhere to sincere friendship, equality, mutual trust and common development, and support each other on issues involving respective core interests and major concerns, which can serve as a good example of China-Africa cooperation and South-South cooperation. The Chinese side always bears in mind the general picture of friendship between China and Zambia, adheres to the correct view of righteousness and benefit, advances the cooperation between the two sides in various fields, and ensures the economic and social benefits as well as sustainable development of projects between both sides. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Zambian side to strengthen the unity and cooperation between China and Zambia and between China and Africa by taking the opportunity of the FOCAC Beijing Summit.

Joseph Malanji expressed that the Zambia-China relations are based on equality, friendship and respect. The Zambian side firmly sticks to the one-China policy and appreciates China's long-term and selfless support and assistance in realizing the national independence and promoting national development of Zambia. The FOCAC is conducive to promoting the South-South cooperation. The Zambian side stands ready to work with the Chinese side to ensure a complete success of the Summit.
