Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation José Pacheco of Mozambique

On the afternoon of August 31, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation José Pacheco of Mozambique, who accompanied President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi to China to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Wang Yi said that China and Mozambique share a comradely and brotherly relationship. China will always stand firmly with the Mozambican side. This year, major progress has been made in the peace process, and the economic development has enjoyed constant development in Mozambique. It is believed that the Mozambican side will continue to make new achievements. The Chinese side welcomes the Mozambican side to actively participate in the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to enhance the integration of development strategies of the two sides, carry out cooperation in production capacity and industrial parks, and help Mozambique achieve independent and sustainable development. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mozambican side to take the opportunity of the FOCAC Beijing Summit to push China-Mozambique relations to a higher level.

José Pacheco said that the FOCAC, which adheres to the principle of equality and mutual benefit, is an important platform for strengthening Mozambique-China and Africa-China relations. The Mozambican side supports the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to take the opportunity of signing the memorandum of understanding on jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative to make joint efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind and further promote the forward-looking development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Mozambique and China.
