On June 24, 2022, Guo Wei, Head of Office of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Palestine, accepted an exclusive interview with WAFA, introducing that the Chinese government's donation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East(UNRWA), elaborating that China supports the work of the UNRWA and supports the just cause of the Palestinian people and improvement of people’s livelihood.

Guo Wei said that the UNRWA has provided education, medical care, relief, housing and other key services to the refugees inside and outside Palestine for more than 70 years, and the UNRWA plays an indispensable role in improving the living conditions, maintaining dignity and promoting development of Palestinian refugees. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the UNRWA has spared no effort to prevent the spread of the virus in the refugee camps while continuing to maintain its key services. For many years, China has been providing donations to the UNRWA and donated anti-epidemic materials and COVID-19 vaccines. Currently, humanitarian difficulties facing the Palestinian people cannot be ignored, and the epidemic has brought an impact on the economic and social development of Palestine. China calls on the international community to provide more support to Palestine through the UNRWA. China is a sincere friend of the Palestinian people, firmly supports all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question, and is willing to continue to support the work of the UNRWA to make continuous contributions to the realization of a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question.
