On August 1, 2022, Guo Wei, Head of the Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, published a signed article “China's High-quality Economic Development Provides Opportunities for the World” at the Ma'an News Agency, introducing that China has effectively coordinated COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development to provide momentum for world economic recovery and provide broad market opportunities for all states. Currently, the COVID-19 epidemic has affected the global development outcomes, with impact on the global industrial and supply chain, crisis in food and energy security, blocking the process of globalization. In the face of the complex and severe environment, China has adhered to overall planning of epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development, and upheld the principle of putting the people and their lifes first to build a solid epidemic prevention and control barrier, and consolidate the achievements of epidemic prevention and control, so as to protect people’s lives and health to the greatest extent, and stabilize the foundation of economic and social development to the greatest extent. 

In the first half of 2022, China's GDP grew by 2.5%, with 0.4% in the second quarter, which was achieved against the background of the decline of major production and demand indicators in April and May, reflecting the strong resilience of China's economy. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.7%, with price increase significantly lower than the increase level of more than 8% in European and American countries, which was conducive to the stable operation of the economy and the improvement of people's livelihood. 6.54 million new jobs were created in cities and towns across China. In June, the urban unemployment rate nationwide dropped to 5.5%, and employment and people's livelihood were guaranteed. The total export-import volume of goods increased by 9.4%, with exports increased by 13.2%, showing resilience in foreign trade imports and exports. The added value of high-tech manufacturing industries above designated size achieved a year-on-year growth of 9.6%, the investment in high-tech industries increased by 20.2%, and the transformation and upgrading trend continued. 

China adheres to promoting high-quality development and contributing to green and healthy global development. From 1979 to 2020, China's GDP grew at an average annual rate of 9.2%, becoming an important engine of global economic growth. China has been the largest contributor to global economic growth for 15 consecutive years, with an average contribution rate of more than 30%. China has lifted 770 million rural residents out of poverty, contributing to more than 70% of global poverty reduction. China feeds nearly one fifth of the world's population with less than 9% of the world’s arable land, meeting the consumption demand of high-quality and diversified agricultural products. Over the past 20 years, China's newly increased vegetation covers about 25% of the global total, with the proportion of contribution ranking first in the world, and has become the country with the largest increase in forest resources in the world. 

In his address to the 2022 World Economic Forum virtual session, Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out that China will stay committed to reform and opening-up. A peaceful and stable environment is a prerequisite for development. All countries should jointly maintenance  the United Nations centered international system, practice multilateralism and safeguard world peace and tranquility. Promoting stable growth of the world economy is a common and urgent task for all. Countries need to strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination, ensure stable food and energy supply, and keep industrial and supply chains safe and smooth. It is important to enhance unity and coordination, firmly defend and promote economic globalization, deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and advance balanced, inclusive and sustainable development that delivers for all. With a big economy, wide room for manoeuvre, and a large-scale market, China will continue to provide strong momentum for the stable recovery of the world economy and provide broader market opportunities for all countries.
