On December 10, 2022, Guo Wei, Head of Office of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Palestine, received a live interview with “Today’s Focus” program of the Palestine Television, introducing that Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the first China-Arab States Summit and delivered a keynote speech, explaining the spirit of China-Arab friendship featuring “solidarity and mutual assistance, equality and mutual benefit, and inclusiveness and mutual learning”, the four paths to build a community with a shared future of China and Arab states, the eight initiatives on China-Arab practical cooperation, and reaffirming that China consistently and firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people and makes unremitting efforts to promote an early, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question.

Guo Wei stressed that Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the first China-Arab States Summit and delivered a keynote speech entitled “Carrying Forward the Spirit of China-Arab Friendship and Jointly Building a China-Arab Community with a Shared Future in the New Era”, summarized and refined the spirit of China-Arab friendship featuring “solidarity and mutual assistance, equality and mutual benefit, and inclusiveness and mutual learning”, put forward the four paths to build a community with a shared future of China and Arab states, including staying independent and defending our common interests, focusing on economic development and promoting win-win cooperation, upholding regional peace and striving for common security, increasing exchanges among civilizations to enhance mutual understanding and trust. In the next three to five years, China will work with the Arab side to advance eight major cooperation initiatives in areas including development support, food security, public health, green innovation, energy security, inter-civilizational dialogue, youth development, and security and stability to strive for early harvest.

Guo Wei pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized in his keynote speech that the historical injustices done to the Palestinian people should not be left unattended indefinitely. The legitimate rights and interests of a nation are not up for trade, and the demand to establish an independent state shall not be denied. The international community should stay firm in its commitment to the two-state solution and the principle of “land for peace”, make resolute efforts to promote peace talks, and strive for a just settlement of the Palestinian issue at an early date. When meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated that China firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and always stands with the Palestinian people no matter how the international and regional situation changes. China will continue to make unremitting efforts to promote an early, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue, provide assistance to the Palestinian side within its capacity to develop its economy and improve its people’s livelihood, and strengthen communication and cooperation with Palestine on promoting China-Arab relations, implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the Global Security Initiative (GSI). China is willing to work with Palestine to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and take the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Palestine next year as an opportunity to push the friendly relations between China and Palestine to a new level.
