On November 29, 2023, Zeng Jixin, Head of Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, signed the handover certificate of cash assistance with Karim Amer, Director of Partnerships of the Department of External Relations and Communications of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Zeng Jixin said that China's provision of $1 million in cash assistance to UNRWA is a concrete measure to implement the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the BRICS extraordinary virtual summit on the Palestinian-Israeli issue. When meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at UN Headquarters in New York, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi stressed that China supports the United Nations and the secretary-general in playing a unique and irreplaceable role in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. China has always supported the work of UNRWA and is ready to continue to make contributions to the Agency within its capacity to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Karim Amer, on behalf of UNRWA, appreciated China's consistent support to the Agency, thanked China for providing emergency humanitarian assistance to Gaza, and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to ease the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
