On the morning of December 8, 2020, Premier Li Keqiang met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva at the Great Hall of the People via video link.

Li Keqiang said that recently he held the fifth "1+6" Roundtable with Madam Kristalina Georgieva and leaders of major international economic institutions. All parties articulated their commitment to upholding multilateralism and tackling global challenges all together. The IMF has played an important role in promoting free trade and world economic development. He hopes that the IMF would continue to work towards multilateral consensus, and said China as the largest developing country will make its due contribution to it.

Li Keqiang introduced the current economic situation in China, and pointed out that China stands a good chance to register positive economic growth this year, which is not easy for a country with a population of 1.4 billion. While the world is on the path to economic recovery, there are still uncertainties. We will continue to coordinate pandemic prevention and control and economic and social development, maintain the continuity, stability and sustainability of our macro policies, and keep China's economy performing within a reasonable range.

Kristalina Georgieva said that the IMF appreciates China's significant role in trade, world economic recovery, poverty alleviation and low carbon growth. The IMF is ready to strengthen its cooperation with China to uphold multilateralism, provide impetus for boosting global trade and further enhance the momentum of world economic recovery.

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and head of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng and others attended the meeting.
