On September 13, 2026, the Office of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Palestine held a press briefing. Journalists from major Palestinian media outlets, including the Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA), Palestine TV, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Al-Quds, Al-Ayyam, Ma’an News Agency, and Shifa News Agency, as well as independent Palestinian journalists and correspondents of Chinese central media outlets based in Palestine, attended the briefing.

H.E. Sun Zhen briefed participants on the significance of the three important policy statements made by President Xi Jinping this year regarding the situation in the Middle East. In the context of the fifth anniversary of the proposal of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the first anniversary of the proposal of the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), he also introduced the progress made since the two initiatives were put forward, as well as their guiding relevance to the situation in the Middle East and the Palestinian question.

Sun also took questions on China-Palestine relations, China’s assistance to Palestine, the Palestinian question, among other related issues.
