On September 22, 2026, H.E. Mr. Sun Zhen, Head of Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, met with H.E. Dr. Laila Ghannam, Member of the Fatah Central Committee and the Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh. Counsellor Li Xin and diplomats Yang Yiming and Yue Jianghua attended the meeting.

Laila welcomed Sun on assuming his new post and gave a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments in Palestine. She spoke highly of China’s long-standing and steadfast support for the just cause of the Palestinian people, noted that the “Chinese School” “China-Palestine Friendship Square” and “Beijing Road”, all funded by China, have become landmarks of Ramallah and left a deep impression on the Palestinian people. She also expressed hope that Palestine and China would further strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

Sun stressed that China has long firmly supported Palestine. This year, President Xi Jinping has repeatedly reaffirmed that the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue and put forward a four-point principle for resolving the Palestinian question. Sun stated that he would spare no effort to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Palestine across all fields, continuously deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
