On November 1, 2026, H.E. Mr. Sun Zhen, Head of Office of the People’s Republic of China to the State of Palestine, visited Jericho Governorate and met with Governor Dr. Hussein Hamayel, a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah. He also exchanged views with trainees from the governorate who had participated in training programs in China, and gave separate interviews to Palestinian National TV and a local television station. Diplomats Yang Yiming, Fan Yezhuo and Yue Jianghua also attended.

Sun noted that Jericho Governorate was one of the first Palestinian governorates to achieve self-governance, and the first governorate outside Ramallah that he had visited. He said that China stands ready to promote new progress in local exchanges and cooperation between China and Palestine.

Sun stressed that, since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized that the Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue and should not be marginalized. He noted that, recently, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin and reiterated China’s support for Palestine. Sun also briefed Hussein on the guiding principles of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and emphasized that the CPC and Fatah could further strengthen exchanges on Party building.

Dr. Hussein expressed appreciation for China’s just position and spoke highly of the CPC’s important experience in advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance. He expressed willingness to contribute to the development of Palestine-China relations.
