On May 31, Guo Wei, Head of the Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine, spoke to Zaki, central committee member of Palestine National Liberation Movement (“Fatah”) and Minister of Relations with China and the Arab World Affairs.
Guo Wei said that maintaining national security has always been the administrative authority of the central government, and the Chinese central government has the greatest and ultimate responsibility for national security in all local administrative regions. Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no external forces are allowed to interfere. The decision of the National People's Congress of China is aimed at a very small number of acts that seriously endanger China’s national security. It does not affect Hong Kong's high degree of autonomy, helps safeguard the rights and freedoms of Hong Kong residents, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors in Hong Kong. The Palestinian Presidential Office issued a statement yesterday supporting China's efforts to safeguard China's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, including that of Hong Kong, which demonstrates the high degree of political mutual trust between the two countries.
Fatah firmly supports China's efforts to safeguard sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security, supports China's decision on Hong Kong issue, opposes any outside interference in China's internal affairs and condemns attempts to undermine stability in Hong Kong, Zaki said.
